"But you weren't!" I couldn't hold myself back anymore and swung at him. "Did she tell you how she almost died on the hospital bed?! I almost lost my daughter and granddaughter on the same day!" Tears started to fell my eyes as I yelled at him.

I tried to back away, but he got me right in the eye. I could feel the bruise form. "I know, and it kills me I wasn't there... I'm so sorry you had to go through that alone... I couldn't imagine." I said softly. Iris started to fuss, probably from his yelling. I moved past him and we to go gently pick her up.

I bit my lip. "She's my daughter. She knows me." I said. I felt bad that she kept crying, probably upset from all the action.

"You left her." I repeated, trying to bounce her to quiet her. "I thought I lost my daughter. I don't know if she told you about the birth but did she tell you about after? About the allergic reaction she had to one of the medications she was given. Did she tell you how the reaction stopped her breathing and put her into cardiac arrest? Did she tell you how my granddaughter almost ended up parentless?" Tear filled my eyes and were now spilling over, my emotions getting the best of me. I rocked Iris in my arms as she cried.

I bit my lip hard. "I didn't know that-" I said softly. I was going to say something else, but I decided it was best to back away. Quietly I shut the door and took a deep breath before calling Rowan. "Hey- your dad is pretty worked up.... He won't let me touch Iris. I think you need to get over here." I said softly when she answered.

I sighed. "I'll be right over." I said softly. I got up and grabbed my things before hurrying over. "All I wanted was one night to relax." I said storming in. I looked at Lucas and saw the redness that was blooming under his eye. "Did he punch you?" I huffed and went into the nursery. There was my dad, an emotional mess, and Iris, also an emotional mess. I gently took Iris from him and bounced her in my arms until she quieted. I got up with her and went out to Lucas. "I need to talk to my dad. "Can you just take her for a minute?" I asked.

I nodded. Honestly I was a little scared to take her because I didn't want her dad to freak out. But I sat down and held Iris close, making her feel safe and not upset.

I went back into the nursery and sat on the ground next to my dad. "He should have been here. He left you.." He mumbled. I wrapped my arms around him. "I know he did, but he had to. He had a job to do. A very important job. He had to save other people's lives." I said. "While you almost lost yours." I bit my lip. "Him being here wouldn't have changed what happened.. Dad he feels awful for leaving. He wished he had been here. If he had known, he would have been, but he didn't know. But now he is here. He's Iris's father. He makes her happy, and he makes me happy. Please just give him a chance. I know he can make it up to you." I said. He thought for a moment before slowly nodding. I stood up with him and went back to the other room with him. I took Iris from Lucas and looked at my dad. "You have a lot to make up." He said. "Take care of my girls." He added before going into his bedroom. I let out a long sigh. "Come on, let's go back to your place." I said to Lucas.

I nodded and we headed back. "I'm so sorry. If I knew he was going to react like that, I wouldn't have done it while Iris was here." I said softly.

I shook my head. "I didn't think he would do that either." i admitted. We got back and I changed Iris and put her in the crib that Lucas had gotten.
