I peeked out the bedroom door to see Lucas in the other room with the baby. I smiled softly at him playing with her. I sat by the door enjoying watching them but wishing I could be out there helping.

I looked over at her and smiled. "This is Penelope. Penny, this is Rowan. Can you say hi?" I asked. Instead, she stuck her hand in her mouth. I chuckled. "I'm best friends with her parents. She's my goddaughter." I explained.

"I just won't bring her over by you. Plus she was sick last week, so I think that it's all through her system." I got her a juice box and she stopped crying.

"Yeah. Her dad and I were basically brothers. He's a few years older than me, but hes the reason that I stayed off the streets. He kept me accountable, and I knew he'd whip me into shape if I did something wrong." I said, only half joking.
