After the banquet, Lucas and I really hadn't talked much, but tonight was the dinner with the Mayor that we had agreed to go to. This time I was meeting Lucas at his place. I walked up the stairs to his apartment. I paused before knocking on the door. I was nervous to see him honestly. I wasn't sure how tonight would go and I was pretty sure he was still mad at me for the things that I had said to him. I finally knocked and waited at the door. |

I opened the door wearing jeans and a button down shirt. "Hey." I said. I looked down at my outfit. "Is this not fancy enough?" I worried.

I shrugged. "I don't know. If the rest of the family is there they are all very open and kind people. Be respectful of that. They're going to be just as confused and hurt by this as you." I said.

I nodded and took a deep breath. Most of the ride was silence, but my eyes widened when we rolled up to the large house. "This place is huge." I said under my breath.

I took a deep breath and we went up to the door. Instead of one of them opening it, it was a maid. She took our jackets and nervously tugged at my collar. We walked into a large living room and they were all there. The mom and girls looked especially uncomfortable. Great- this was going to be an interesting night.

I saw one of the girls shift nervously when I sat next to her so I scooted over a bit. "Drink?" He asked me. I shook my head. "Just water," I said. "Um your house is beautiful." I said, not sure what else to say.

I bit my lip, really feeling for Lucas and the situation he was stuck in. "Lucas I know you can't say everything but maybe you can explain what you do for a job a little bit. I think Lisa would actually be really intrigued." I said.

"Yeah..." I ran my fingers through my hair. "I uh work for the FBI, in undercover operations. It involved a lot of travel, but I'm trying to stay closer. For my mom." I said softly.

I saw John fidget slightly at the mention of Lucas's mom, but Lisa became a little more interested. "So you do like under cover stuff?" She asked.

I nodded. "Yeah. Mostly detective work and stuff. It's kind of hard to explain." I admitted. Someone came and said dinner was ready so we walked into a huge dining room.
