"They went to your apartment and broke in, planning on stealing any evidence I was involved in her." I said. "But she ended up coming while they were there and threatened her and..." He didn't need to finish. "And you didn't do anything about it?" I asked. "It ruined my life, and hers."

"But you realized it happened and you didn't say anything. I had to grow up taking care of my mom- I never got to be a kid after that day. And now all my money is going towards her rent and I can't even afford my own." I said. I stood up, but then I remembered I promised Ro I'd be nice so I sat again.

He sighed. "I should have said something, I know. But I care too much about my wife and daughters. They would be destroyed." He said. "I've tried to make up for it by being good for this city, but I know I can never make it better." He said softly.

I bit my lip not knowing what to do. I looked between him and Lucas. I looked back at Lucas. "Is there still time to do something? Maybe get to know his son?" I asked softly.

I hesitated. Honestly, I was still pretty upset. I was going to say no but then I saw how much Rowan wanted for him. And me. "How about you both come for dinner later this week?" He suggested. I nodded softy.
