A small smile quirked the edge of my lips up. I bit my lip to stop myself. I got up and got two forks. I handed him one and sat back down. "Will you tell me more about your parents?" I asked.

I let out a long breath. "Well she was always a little bit.... paranoid when I grew up. But that was reasonable because we lived in a bad part of town, and there wasn't a man in the house to protect us. But one night when I was about 9 she came home bloody and beaten and insane." I swallowed. "I took care of her and my sister that day, until I could make enough money to bring her to the mental institution." I paused. "She swears that my father tortured her that night, to keep her quiet about me and their past relationship. But since she was talking crazy and there was a history of that in my family, no one believes her." I said softly.

I took a deep breath. "I've never actually met him. My mom tells me about him and who he is, but when I've told people they tell me not to believe her. But I do." I said softly. I didn't want her to not believe me and think I'm crazy.
