The surrogacy clinic had called us and set up meetings with potential surrogacy moms. Mason was at work too, but he was taking an extended lunch break to be here. I sat in the clinic and tapped my foot, wishing he were here. I hated coming alone. But I waited for 10 minutes, and he still wasn't here when they called me in. Probably got stuck in a call. Nervously, I walked into the meeting. As I met the couple, I tried not to worry about Mason. Even though I was a bit distracted, they seemed really friendly. |

Mason
I was running late from work to begin with then got stuck in traffic. I felt awful for getting to the clinic late. I also was still in my work clothes, not that that was really a problem. I quietly stepped into the clinic office. "Hi, sorry I'm late. I got stuck at work." I said turning to the surrogate couple. "I'm Mason. It's nice to meet you." I said shaking their hands. I then stepped back and gave Campbell a light kiss. "Hi sweetie. Sorry I'm late." I apologized to her in a whisper.

I squeezed his hand so he knew it was ok and sat back down. "It's ok. Mary and Jake were just telling my about their apartment." I said with a smile.

She smiled and nodded. "We actually own and run a small boutique in Manhattan, on 8th. Our apartment is right above." She said. I smiled. "That's about 3 or 4 blacks from our place." I said.

She nodded and smiled. "The only thing you might want to know is that we are going out of town for 2 weeks for a conference." She said. I nodded. "I think that would be ok. Do you have any more questions?" I asked, looking at Mason. We had already talked about most of the important stuff when he wasn't there.

She hesitated but smiled. Her husband spoke up. "Well we've put a lot of our own money into the store, and could use the extra cash. Plus we both came from big families and like kids."
