Marcus had planned me a big party, but after everything that happened him I canceled it all. Instead I decided to have a day to myself. I slept in until noon, had my favorite cereal for lunch, and snuggled on the couch to watch old movies. I didn't even tell Connor because I didn't want anyone to make a big deal about it. Plus, I'd feel guilty if he spoiled me when I was still lying to him about his dad. Grabbing my phone, I went on the Internet to see me in the press. Deciding I didn't need that in my life today, I put my phone away and happily turned back to my movie. |

I hadn't talked to Sage all day. I had been busy with work hadn't gotten a free second. Then at work somebody asked me if Sage was planning anything big for her birthday this year. "It's her birthday?" I asked. "She never told me." As soon as I got out of work I ran to the store and got a bouquet of roses and a bottle of wine. I figured she would like something fancier than beer. I drove over to her place to surprise her and knocked on the door. "Sage? You have something to explain!" I called out in a joking manner.

The knocking on the door made me jump, but a soft smile played on my lips when I heard it was Connor. I pressed pause on my movie and went to the door to let him in. "Hey." I kissed his cheek. "You're so sweet." I said, taking the flowers from him. As I tried to find a vase, I explained to him. "Sorry I didn't tell you... It's just that every year I have to go to some big party. I didn't want anyone to make a big deal out of me." I said, putting them in water. I took a deep breath and inhaled deeply with a smile.

"But you are a big deal. You're special and it's your 21st birthday." I said "That's big. I brought wine, but if you don't like it we can get something else." i said.

I chuckled softly. "That should be fine. But I don't know where a bottle opener would be around here." I joked. I sat back down on the couch and patted the spot next to me for him to sit. "How was work today?"

I chuckled. "They're probably just looking for an excuse to go to some big party." I joked. "Marcus had been planning one, but after I fired him I decided to cancel it all." I said softly with a shrug.
