I didnt respond and moved my hand down to my abdomen, where I felt stitches. I moved the sheets so I could see them and my eyes filled with tears. "Ow." I said softly.

"Shh.. sweetie, just relax. Your going to be okay." I whispered. I gently took her hand and rubbed my thumb over her knuckles. "Relax now. I'm here. I'll keep you safe." I promised.

The doctor came back after a few minutes and sat next to my bed. As he explained the surgery, I lost hope with every word. "You mean I can never have kids?" I asked, moving my hand from Mason's. He nodded. "Yes, but there are other options for you and your husband-" He said, reaching over pamphlets and other papers with information on it. I pushed them away from me. "I don't want other options." I snapped, trying to hide the tears in my eyes. To distract myself, i ran my fingers through my hair.

. "it's fine I'll just leave the information here. It's just explaining options you have if you still want to start a family or need any counseling." He explained before leaving. I just sighed before closing my eyes. I wasn't exactly tired, but I didn't feel like dealing with all this right now. I couldn't.

I moved my hand away from his and looked out the window. "I don't want to figure it out. I just want it all to go back to the way it was." I said quietly.

I sighed. "That's not possible Campbell." I said. "What were you doing anyways? How did this all happen?" I asked. She was the only one I didn't get a statement from yet.

"It's all a blur." I said, not wanting to go over it. I squeezed my eyes shut. Thinking about it made me think about our baby and that made tears gather in my eyes again.

I sighed and paused for a minute, collecting my thoughts. "I was just walking on the sidewalk when I heard a horrible noise. Two cars hit eachother and one came spinning towards me. I looked like one went through a red light or something, I don't really know."

I nodded and wrote it down. "Maybe you'll remember more after some time to rest." I said. I hated sounding like a police officer to her but she wasn't much acting like a wife to me either. I stood up. "Should I give you some time to rest?" I asked.

"Yes." I said. Really I just wanted to be alone. I couldn't even look at him- I felt like I just destroyed his chance of ever being a father. I closed my eyes and willed myself to go to sleep.

I nodded. I took the pamphlets and quietly left the room. I sat down on the floor next to her door and started looking through the pamphlets. There were things about adopting, and surrogates and freezing eggs and all that weird stuff that I never really thought about. Except now I was thinking about it. I pushed myself up and went to go find the doctor. I was glad I didn't have to go far to find him. "One of your pamphlets talks about freezing eggs and stuff, but if you already removed all that, how wold that be possible?" I asked The doctor looked slightly guilty as he started to explain. "Were not supposed to do this unless we have full consent from the patient. I could be fired but under the circumstances... all I was trying to do was help. When we did the hysterectomy we saved some of her eggs. When you two have had time to talk we can come to a decision whether to keep them or destroy them." The doctor explained. I wanted to be mad because he did something behind our backs and the cop in me wanted to arrest him, but the husband in me was just happy that we might still have a chance at a family that I just nodded. "Thank you." I said and headed back to the room. I sat back down outside Campbell's door in order to hear her the minute she needed something.
