I went back to work for a while, then to Beth's apartment. I left later than I thought I would, so I picked up some diapers and other stuff for Iris on the way home. I stepped into the apartment and found them in the living room. "Hey. How's it going?" I asked, sitting on the couch.

I looked up and put my finger to my mouth to keep Lucas quiet. Iris had just fallen asleep in my arms so I got up and went to put her in her crib. "You're home later than I thought." I said.

"I'm sorry, I decided to run a few errands." I said. I pulled the rings out of my pocket and opened it for her. Hers was dainty but pretty, with little diamonds around it. Mine was a gold band, simple. "How do you like it?" I asked, holding up her ring for her.
