It was the first time in a very, very long time that I had the afternoon off work, or wasn't sleeping off a morning shift. But all I had were meetings today, and then I get to go home. It was stressful, but I tried to have a good attitude. I opened the door and was happy to find Sara still at home. "Hey." I kissed her cheek. "Did you drop the little ones off at daycare already?" I asked. Judging by the silence, I was guessing so. She did that a couple days a week so she could run errands.

I looked up from my spot on the couch. I smiled seeing Ollie and set my book down. "I did. They were very rambunctious this morning." I chuckled getting up. "I was hoping you would come with me to do some errands." I said.

"Sounds good." I said. I took her hand and pecked her lips. We chatted until we got to the grocery store then I pushed the cart. "How was sending the kids off this morning?" I asked her.

I nodded. "Well... I'll probably be around more often to help." I said, finding some veggies and putting it in the cart.

I bit my lip then smiled softly. "I'm... Retiring from surgery." I said, trying to not make it a big deal. It was kind of a long, confusing story behind it I didn't want to explain.

I sighed. I should have known she would see right through me. "It wasn't really my choice. My health just isn't good enough anymore." I admitted. I really didn't want her to worry about my MS because there was nothing she could do about it.
