It was a long night but eventually I fell asleep next to her. I woke up the next morning exhausted but knowing I had to go. I got dressed quietly and went downstairs to have a cup of coffee.

I woke up when I felt the emptiness of the bed. I was going to have to get used to that. I wrapped a blanket around myself and went downstairs. I wrapped my arms around Lucas. "I love you." I whispered softly. "Be safe."
