It had been a long day, and I was glad to finally be home. It started at 3 AM, when I got up and arrived at the hospital. I had a long, intense surgery- 17 hours total. The whole day focused on work- it was tiring, hard, and stressful, but worth it because the kid survived and would make a full recovery. Now it was about 9 P.M. as I pulled into the driveway. It was past the kids' bedtime, so I quietly crept to the kitchen to eat.

I came downstairs in a silky bathrobe when I heard Ollie come in. "Hi baby." I said quietly, walking over to him and giving him a long kiss.

I kissed her back. "Hey. Sorry I didn't mean to wake you up." I grabbed some food from the fridge and put it in the microwave. "How was your day?"

I smiled. "My day was good. The kids had a lot of energy today. We played outside for a while, then inside, then back outside." I said with a light laugh. "They should sleep well tonight." I said. I moved behind him and gently rubbed his shoulders. "How was work?" I asked.

"It was long but good. The kid should make a full recovery." I said. "Are you excited for your field trip tomorrow?" I asked. Josh and his whole class were coming to tour the hospital, and Sara was a chaperone.

I chuckled. "I'm coming in at about noon, so hopefully I'll get to see you." I said. "Just try to stay away from anything involving blood." She always got woozy even seeing the smallest drop.

"Of course not. The tour has been made for school ages children, so it will be fine." I assured her. I gave her hand a squeeze. "I hate to be boring, but I think I'm going to go to bed. I'm exhausted." I said.

I slid out of my silky bathrobe and laid next to Ollie, slowly rubbing my hands over his back.

"I don't care." I said, giving her another kiss. Soon after, we both fell asleep. In the morning, I got up a bit later than usual, feeling refreshed and well rested. I got ready and dressed, then went downstairs to see the kids up eating breakfast with Sara. I smiled. "Hey, guys." I kissed all three of their heads, then grabbed myself some breakfast.
