I shook my head, "Hell no! I wouldn't survive and all girl's school. My best friends have always been guys. But I mean with them it's always been clear they were my friends. Now I am in that stupid gray area," I admitted with a hint of defeat and irritation in my tone.

I blushed deeply. I never really was one of those girls who was boy crazy. I never crossed that stage. Horses and school along with the occasional track meet had ruled with an iron grip over my life especially through middle school and my freshman year, when that boy stage hits typically. I just always had friends that were boys. There was never any dispute, I liked having guy friends and I fit right in with them. I blamed my cousins sometimes but I knew I had alienated myself from the "social norm" maybe on purpose maybe accidentally but non the less I still had never really worried about boys. Now I was thinking about one a little too much. "I don't know if you know him, Reece? I mean we are friends and we pull pranks and joke around and hang out. Just sometimes he will give me a look or say something and I can't help but wonder. And when we hang out I always am happier afterwards, no matter what I always end up laughing and smiling..." I said with a sheepish smile. "I know I sound stupid."

I smiled at her appreciative of her support. "I don't know maybe," I said with a doubtful shrug. Every once in a while I thought maybe Reece did like me but then those moments were so slight and he would switch back to joking around with me I convinced myself I only wanted him to be my friend. However, I was beginning to think I was lying to myself.

"I have advanced science, advanced math, advanced english, advanced history, Spanish two, and film. What about you?" I asked as I wandered to my closet to begin picking my outfit for the next days classes.

"Yay! I won't be totally alone as long as our class times line up!" I said happily. "Wow you are taking French and Spanish, that must be difficult!" I said thinking about my already difficult time with Spanish. I pulled out a cute skirt and held it up to examine it.
