I finished tacking Dreamer up and walked him out to the indoor. I led him around the ring a few times. I stopped at the large mirror and let him look at himself. "See. There's nothing to spook at in here." i said and rubbed his neck. I walked a few more laps before getting on. I walked him once around the ring then picked up a flowing trot. His stride was naturally long and ground covering. It was the race horse bloodlines. We worked in and out of circles and figure eights. I did a few leg yields while waiting for Mr. Connor.

Mr.Connor I walked into the arena. "According to my list you must be Samantha." I said smiling. These girls always seemed to think I would be a terrifying old man.

Mr.Connor "Alright fantastic!" I told her. "Would you like to jumping or dressage first?" I said. "We will only be testing over those things due to weather." I explained.

Sam I nodded. "Dressage." I said, deciding to keep things in the most natural order.

Sam I trotted dreamer to X, halt and saluted, then moved forward at the trot. Dreamer's stride as ground covering as ever. We tracked right and changed direction across the diagonal then did a twenty meter circle. I silently cued for a canter and Dreamer picked it up. I moved him into a figure eight doing a flying lead change at the center each time. My leg shifted an inch during the first one, but Dreamer executed the change flawlessly. This was his strong suit more then mine. I brought him back down to a trot and made a tight ten meter circle. Dreamer rounded nicely around my leg and moved out of the cycle. I pushed him through a half pass then back down the center line. I brought Dreamer to a halt again at X. He stopped perfectly square but tossed his head, almost happily, as if to say yeah I'm good. I sighed internally, but smiled and saluted. I then rubbed his neck in praise.

Mr.Conner I nodded with a smile and said "Thank you!" I said finishing up my notes. "Alright were going to set up the jumps and you can take a short break if you need it, good job so far!" I told her and had a few guys set up some jumps.

Mr.Conner "Alright, any questions about the pattern?" I asked her and paused. "If not, start whenever you're ready." I told her sitting along the rail with my clipboard.

Sam I nodded. I gave Dreamer one more pat before collecting my reins and pushing him out into a trot. We started a curtesy circle and picked up a canter. Dreamer had a smooth rocking horse canter. We approached the first jump, a simple standard. Dreamer cleared it easily and then cleared the oxer after. I bit my lip in concentration as I sat deeper for the next fence, a faux brick wall. I rose just at the right time and Dreamer soared over the jump. I felt dreamer hesitate as we approached the liver pool jump. I gave him a small nudge and he moved forward again connecting back with me. I gave him another light nudge just before the fence and he snapped his knees up and cleared the fence. Just two more jumps left. I sat back a few strides before the spacey vertical. I had to collect Dreamer's long stride a bit to get the right striding. He took the vertical a half a stride to long. If I had asked for the extra stride though, it would have been a catastrophe. The last jump was a spread, meant to be taken at a lengthier stride. I let Dreamer out and his stride practically doubled. I checked him once to remind him we were jumping not racing. I rose into my two point, my leg barely shifting as Dreamer soared over the fence. He landed easily on the other side and I let him canter off before slowly transitioning back down to a walk. "Good boy." i said softly, rubbing his neck.

Sam I smiled. "Thank you." I replied. I hopped off Dreamer and loosened his girth then began to walk him out to cool him off.
