Riding huey

Charlie

I walked into the stables and pulled huey out. I groomed him quickly and lugged my western saddle out. I put the blue pad on first then the large saddle. I buckled the cinch and then put his splint boots on.

Claire

I walked out to the arena with Missy. I had stashed her tack to the side before so when I caught her from the feilds I would come straight here. She walked in at a lazy walk beside me and I clucked to make her go at her full pontential. Then I ground tied her and did a once-over witht he dandy brush since she had already been groomed. I grabbed my navajo saddle blanket and put it on her back. Then came my lighter Western staddle. It was old and worn, since it was my neighbors from when she was young. Finally I got her cute little green bridle and she easily took the bit. I led her around a little then checked the cinch before mounting. Just then I noticed we were not alone and I saw Charlie there to. I smiled and waved at her. "Hey!"

Charlie

"Hello!" I said swinging up onto huey's back and gathering my reins. "How is Miss Missy?"

Claire

"She's being just plain out lazy! I think it's because of the weather. Whenever it's nice out, she slows down." I explained, telling Missy to walk on. She went out the arena a few times then I told her to jog and she did

Charlie

I laughed and walked huey I touched my spurs to his sides and he jogged on. He started slowing down and so I touched his sides lightly with my spurs. He bolted forward slamming me into the back of my saddle and started bucking like crazy. I tried to pull him in a circle but he reared and slammed his neck into my face.

Claire

At the sight of another horse going crazy, Missy started acting up. I halted her and she calmed. THen I dismounted and walked over to where Huey and Charlie were. I tried to grab his reins to calm him but it was no use. He wouldn't let me get close enough so I backed away.

Charlie

Huey finally came down and I felt a black eye coming on. I thought he was done when I tried to dismount he reared again sending me into the dirt. "Ow." I moaned. "Huey you are so dead."

Claire

I grabbed Huey's reins and led him over to the rail where I did a loose knot so if he were to rear/buck again he wouldn't injure himself. Then I went back over to Charlie. "Are you ok?" I asked her

Charlie

I sat up "Despite the fact I am going to be soar and have a bad balck eye yes. Now huey you are so dead." I said dangerously and grabbed his reins and got back on

Claire

I got up and went over to her. "Charlie are you sure? I've seen people have accidents like that with their horses and seconds later they pass out."

Charlie

"I have fallen off many times. Its okay." I said and got back on and started huey back to work

Claire

I sighed. Don't say I didn't warn ya. Then I went back over to Missy who was now trying to eat some grass that had started to grow near the edges of the arena. Of course she couldn't because I had tied one of the split reins to the saddle horn

Charlie

I rode huey for an hour before my head ache started "I think I am going to be done." I mumbled

I looked over at her and slipped off of Missy. "Ok." I replied. I started leading Missy around to cool her off

I cooled huey off and untacked him quickly I needed advil now
