LINK TO HORSEIt had been a while since I had seen Lightening and Mike had told me that he had evidently gotten into a bit a mess. What Mike had failed to tell me was how much, all what he told me that he put Lightening in the cross ties and that I should come groom him. Rounding the corner of a stall though, I couldn't help but to groan. If a complete stranger had seen my horse, they wouldn't have been even able to tell that he was a gold cremello, "Now I remember why I hate the rain," I joked to my horse now as I walked up. He was eyeing me with interest I as I looked him over, "Cause you just love the mud...god Lightening, what am I going to do with you?" A snort escaped him, probably telling me to groom him. Heaving a sigh now, I left him and headed to the tack room to grab my bucket of grooming supplies, hopefully, this wouldn't take more than two hours.

Jessica I was in the barn near storms stall when I got a phone call from my father. He never called me? He always had his secretary do it. I slid the green arrow on my iphone to answer it. "Hi" I said while I grabbed my gear. "Hello, Jessica, Its your mother" said my mom. "Why are you calling from dads phone?" I asked. She explained how she was at dinner with Dad and some of his business partners and how she left hers at home so she was in the bathroom talking to me. "Also, I wanted to remind you, the gala is tomorrow and me and your father are flying from paris to come, and we will be staying for the show as well" she said in her informing tone. "That is REAAAALLLLY not necessary mom" I told her. "Of course it is, As one of the biggest donors to the school we need to attend events like this." She said. I sighed "Because you cant just come to support your daughter" I said into the phone but I could tell she was distracted, probably putting on more makeup or something. "Now I had a dress for the gala shipped to the school and it should be at your dorm in a few hours, try it on but DO NOT ruin it. It needs to stay perfect so you can look presentable" she said. 'Yeah, Whatever... ok" I said rolling my eyes. "Now Ive got to go, See you tomorrow night dear" she said just waiting long enough for me to mumble the word "Bye" into the phone before hanging up. Tomorrow was going to suck. I huffed before going to get some grooming tools passing a reaaaalllly muddy horse and bumping into its owner. "Oops Sorry" I mumbled distracted. ooc- wow that was alot more that i meant for it to be (: sorry for the long post. lol OH! Pretend it was on speaker phone if it helps! You can pick

Wow, the tack room looked a little more messier than I remembered it being. Perhaps there were a bunch of new students who didn't realize that they had to put their stuff back where they belonged. A sigh escaped me, I was probably going to be here longer than two hours if I couldn't find my own stuff. Stepping over a few things, I made my way to my locker and opened it, thankfully, everything was still in there. Note to self: buy a lock. Outside, I could hear a girl talking on her phone now, but I couldn't entirely make out her conversation. Not that it mattered, I really didn't want to be accused of eavesdropping. I was glad however that her phone hadn't startled any of the horses, that would have been the last thing I needed. Hearing Lightening whinny now, it snapped me out of my thoughts and I grabbed my stuff and headed out the door of the tack room just as the girl was walking past Lightening. I figured she move out of the way but instead, she just ended up crashing into me, catching me off guard. So much that my groom kit hit the ground with a clatter, my supplies scattering everywhere. I hear Lightening let out another whinny, as if he were laughing and I just sighed, "It's okay," I said now, bending down to grab my stuff and throw it back in the bag now.

Jess Apparently I had run into him so much he dropped all of his stuff. Still distracted and angered by my insane mother I huffed as his disgustingly muddy horse kept making loud noises. Also during me running into him, I guess I had brushed up against the horse because now my pants were muddy. I looked down and tried to brush it away but it just got on my hands which made it worse. "Ugh" I groaned as tried to get it off. I didn't usually care that much but I was just so tired of everything and I was stressed out. I finally looked at him and sighed. "You do realize the show is in like, 2 days, and your horse is THAT muddy" I stated eying him up and down. It may have come off more harsh and snobby than intended but whatever. He should've moved.

Was it terrible that I thought she was going to help me gather my stuff? Or that I had expected an apology? I didn't think so, but hearing her huff, I was pretty certain that I wasn't going to get one anyways. I kept my mouth shut though as I gathered the last of my stuff and threw it into my bucket. Glancing up now, I noticed that the girl was a lot dirtier than before, and that there was a swipe of mud off of Lightening now. Huh, guess she ran into him as well. Lightening was eyeing her, probably put off by her mood and he was feeding off of it. Standing up now, I could see she was only making her situation worse by trying to wipe off her pants, but that didn't safe me from getting looked over by her. Wow, if she was judging me, she should look at herself right now. I glanced over at Lightening for a moment, I wasn't going to lie, he didn't look like himself. He was passing for a liver colored horse at the moment, "He got loose. I didn't entirely expect that he would get into this much trouble," I commented, glancing back over at her, "But that only means that he'll look extra good for the show now that I have to slave away over him...besides. I'm not that worried about the show," I didn't worry about a lot of things though, "I'm guessing you are." With that, I moved around her and brought out my curry comb and started to work on uplifting the dirt.

Jessica "Well...." I said as I crossed my arms. "Yes, I am actually" I added. I needed to impress my dad after not making YENT. Like, ALOT. I wasn't quite sure what his problem was. Did he actually expect me to formally apologize? He was lucky I even mumbled sorry when I ran into him. Whatever. It's not like I was completely to blame. I wasn't sure what to say so I turned around walked towards Storms stall. Unlatching it I put on his halter and walked him to the cross ties next to that guy and his muddy horse. After a few awkward moments of silence I just sighed. Should I have been nicer? Probably but he wasn't being particularly sweet himself.

Considering how she was behaving, her answer hardly surprised me. Not to mention, there had been that phone call with what I was assuming her mother. Her parents sounded crazier than mine. Okay, so maybe my parents weren't crazy, they were normal in every shape and way, minus the fact that I had checked out Canterwood Crest instead of going to Wellington Prep. I admit, maybe I had been wrong, my family was one of the founders for the school, if not the main supporter and part of the board as well, but I just wanted something different. Not to mention, considering that Canterwood had a higher track score than Wellington as far as winning shows went, it just made natural sense. Of course, maybe the only reason why they had the higher scores was that their parents would disown them otherwise. The girl left me and grabbed her horse, shockingly enough, she put it right next to Lightening. I couldn't help but to smile, "Aren't you afraid you're going to get more dirty?" I asked now, "But anyways," I started now, still curry combing the same spot, "Did you ever think that the more you worry about the show, the more edge it will put you on and cause you to be off your game?" And that was exactly why I never worried about shows, I didn't need the pressure in my life.

Jessica I had began to comb out storms main with my fingers, gently removing all the tangles. I though about his questions for a minute or so. He didn't realize how important these shows were to my parents. How much I really didn't have a choice but to do well. Of course I realized it was probably better to be calm and not worry but I didn't have much of a choice. How on earth was I not supposed to worry? "I can move if you'd like" I shrugged responding to his first question. I had to admit he was right about how his horse being dirty would pretty much force him to have to make him look amazing for the show. "And, yes I have thought about that but I don't exactly have the choice" I said cooly while spraying storms mane with some de-tangler and fancy shine stuff.
