I stood in knights new stall, brushing over his hair for the 5th time. He was finally starting to calm down; he had never been away from Maine before, and he was really jittery. That wasn't the only reason I was hiding in the stall though. It was my first day back at school for a really long time and let's just say I don't have a ton of friends here. knight whinnied and stomped his foot. I guess he was starting to get tired of his stall and wanted to stretch. I put on his saddle and stuff quick and strapped on my helmet before opening the door and walking out. I took a quick turn around the corner and ran into someone.
"Sorry." I muttered, stooping down to pick up their stuff.

"It's alright." I said, also bending down to pick up the brushes I'd dropped when the boy ran into me. I had breeches, tall boots and a red polo on. I looked up and noticed the guy looked familiar. Maybe because he was my (ex?) boyfriend. "Hi Cris." I murmured.

"Bella!" I said nervously. I ran my fingers through my hair. "Hi."

I looked down. "Um, hi." I said quietly. Gosh, maybe this wouldn't be as an amazing year as id hoped.

"You already said that." I joked lamely. I didn't really know what to say; this was awkward. Knight whinnied and nudged my shoulder with his head. "Sorry." I muttered to Bella, trying to calm him down.

"How have you been?" I asked stiffly, ignoring the horse.

I shrugged. "Okay, I guess. What about you?"

"I'm good. So cris, listen." I paused. "Well, after you disappeared, I was depressed for a month. I've found someone that I really like and although we can't date anymore...." I thought of that word. Anymore. It was such a lie, it could be used in the effect of no longer or the effect of forevermore. "I'd really like to be friends still."

I nodded "Yeah, I expected that much." I let out an inaudible sigh. "But are you sure you want to be my friend? I'm not really....popular." I hesitated. "How about you get Petrie ready and we go for a ride??"

"Why I want to be friends? Because you're down to earth and nice. Plus I'm pretty sure you won't blackmail me with anything. My life isn't about popularity." I smiled. "I'd like that, but I'm going bareback."

I nodded. "Ok. Ill wait for you out there." I said, walking to the door with knight. I wanted to mount before Bella got out here, cause I had issues mounting Knight. He was just so TALL and it took like all of me to get on him. It was embarrassing.

I quickly groomed Petri before hugging him. I had so many feelings right now. I went and grabbed his bridle and my helmet, putting both on before leading Petri to a mounting block outside. Cris was already on it. "Hirry up grandma." I teased. Too early for that?

I rolled my eyes. "Oh hush." I said, putting my foot in the stirrup. I pushed with all my might and grunted when I got on top. "Okay, I guess I am a grandma." I said, face palming myself.

I laughed. "See? You can't deny it." I led P up to the block and climbed on, settling on his back. "Where to?"

I shrugged and pointed to the right. "This way??" I said. We moved at a lazy walk. "This is knight, by the way." I said, patting the horses jet black neck.
