Campbell
I was sitting at my desk, clicking away when I received a phone call from a number I didn't recognize. Curiously, I picked it up. "Campbell? Hey its Mary-" There was a long pause and I became worried. "Mary? Are you ok?" I asked. "Yeah- it was just a contraction. I just got to the hospital a couple hours ago." She said. I was shocked- it was still about a week until her due date. I wish she would have called me earlier, but I understood that maybe she didn't get the chance to and it was probably really hectic there. "I'm on my way." I said, grabbing my bag as we spoke. Once I hung up, I talked to my boss quickly and then left. In the elevator I called Mason but he didn't answer. With a huff, I left a voicemail. "Hey babe... so Mary's in labor and at the hospital... I know you're probably busy but I really want you there... plus we need your car because it has the car seat. Ok, whatever I'll just meet you there." I rambled. "Love you." I added quickly before hanging up. By now I was at my car so I jumped in and quickly drove to the hospital. Someone directed me to Mary's room, where an officer was standing outside of the door. Inside was not only Mary, but a woman who looked like her. I assumed it was her mom, so I smiled and said hello then sat next to her. I checked my phone and Mason still hadn't called or texted. For Mary's sake, I tried not to seem worried.
