We signed in then took a seat in the waiting room. I squeezed Campbell's hand.

I held his hand gently until someone called us in. I sat in a roomy office, where a kind lady sat behind the desk. She started talking, but I was too busy looking at all of the pictures and diagrams on the wall to listen. Finally she stopped talking and I snapped out of it. "Sorry- I'm Campbell Richards, and this is Mason." I said, extending my hand.

I shook the woman's hand. "We're really looking into surrogacy." I said and explained things in a little more detail so Campbell didn't have to.

I forced myself to tune out for that part because I didn't want to think about it. "Well the first thing you'll have to do is pay a down deposit, then we can start you on all the paperwork and other first steps." She said, handing us a timeline.

She chuckled softly. "Let's take it one step at a time, ok?" She said. I bit my lip; I didn't want to take it one step at a time, I just wanted to be done with it. But I knew I had to do things her way so I nodded. She smiled. "Perfect. Here's some paperwork you need to fill out." She said. She excused herself to leave us alone with the paperwork.
