Sage
Today was my 3rd or 4th day on the set of my new movie. So far, it had been going really well. The director was tough, but he pushed me to be better and I could see myself improving in my acting skills. I was particularly excited for today because Connor was going to come visit me. This movie kept me really busy, so we hadn't gotten the chance to just hang out in what felt like forever. After doing a scene a few times, I sat in my chair to get my hair and makeup redone. My eyes scanned the room for Connor; he should be here any minute.

I snuck up behind Sage and covered her eyes with my hands. "Guess who?" I said from behind her.

He made me jump at first, but once I heard his voice I laughed. "Hey!" I said, giving him a kiss. "Thanks for coming." I stood up out of my seat. Just then my director came over. "Pierre, this is my boyfriend Connor." I said. He nodded and reached out his hand for him to shake.

"He's in IT, so if there's any computer problems he's your guy." I said happily. He just nodded and walked away. I turned back to Connor. "Sorry. He's really quiet when he's not working. But when we're filming, he's a completely different person. It's weird."

"Its hard, but good. I can feel myself getting better." I said. Just then, someone called me over to the set. I jumped up and offered Connor my seat. "Here. I'll talk to you later." I smiled before going back to the set.
Director
I got the actors started on the scene, then wandered away knowing they could do it themselves. I found that Connor, who Sage was dating. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked him.

"Well I know this is a strange request but...." I hesitated, making sure that no one was around. "I need you to break up with her. Sage is a great actor, but she needs a little push. I know that she would harness that sad and angry energy into her work, and she would relate to her character. She would be amazing." I said. "If you did that, she and this movie could win an oscar. Once the shootings over, you can get back together with her. I know she would understand once you explained why you did it." I said.

I shook my head. "Don't you want her to succeed?" I asked. "She's a great actress don't get me wrong... but she struggles relating to this character. If she doesn't chanel herself into the role, then I have no choice but to consider finding someone else."

"Did you ever consider just telling her to act more like that?" I asked. "Or to imagine we had broken up and what that would do to her." I said.

"Acting doesn't work like that." I sighed. "And I know it would crush her. But she would be able to focus on her acting, and become stronger for it." I said, frustrated that he didn't understand.
