Rowan I had texted Finn the details of the fundraiser the day before and was now setting up. He had convinced me that I should dress up for the kids, so here I was in an alice in wonderland costume. A few hours later, kids from the program started to show up and help put the final touches on setting up. Then the event began. These things always made me nervous because I wanted them to go well for the kids. We had a pumpkin carving contest for the adults that was full of people, which I was happy to see. There was also a spot where younger kids could decorate pumpkins with paint and stickers. In a little bit we would start our costume contest and then we would have the candy hunt. Central park made the perfect location for the event and attracted a lot of people to drop by. A few of the kids ran up to me with pumpkins. "Ms. Hayes, Ms. Hayes. Will you help us decorate our pumpkins?" they asked. I smiled and took their hands. "Of course." I said happily, leading them over to the decorating area. |

I walked into the fundraiser, my hands in my pockets. Because I told her to wear an outfit, I figured I had to wear one too. So I was wearing camo pants, a hunter green shirt, combat boots, and a dark green hat. I looked around for a minute, enjoying the action and smiling children. After getting 2 cups of punch, I found her. I smiled. "Ro, hey." I said. I held up one glass for her. "This is for you." I chuckled softly.

"Oh, hey, tha..." I looked down at my hands that had paint on them from the kids pumpkins. I laughed and wiped my hands off with a paper towel. "Thank you." I finished and took the punch from him. "Girls the pumpkins look great. Why don't you go put them on the table with all the others." I said. They nodded and ran off with the pumpkins. "I'm so glad you came." I said to Finn. "And you dressed up."

I chuckled. "And so did you. You look great." I added with a smile. I nodded to the little girls painting. "This looks fun. Do you need any help?"

"No. Unless you want to carve a pumpkin." I said. "It does cost a little bit of money but it all goes to them." I said, looking around at all the kids.

I nodded. "Of course. Is there any way me or the gym could help? You could give away a membership or free sessions with a personal trainer in a raffle or something." I suggested.

I smiled lightly. "I understand. But let me know if you ever need that." I said. I paused for a second. "Now are you going to give me a tour?" I teased lightly.

"Well this is central park." I said with a laugh. "But over here is the pumpkin carving station. You already saw the pumpkin painting for the little ones. We also have someone face painting and making abloom animals." I said. "And over there," I pointed to the open area of space. "Is where the candy hunt will take place." I said. "We also have a table talking about the program and where people can make other donations and things.

"Well they love you, that's for sure." I said. "But I don't want to keep you from your work." Really, I wanted to do some research and figure out if I could find anything out about her dad.

I walked around and made small talk. Everyone seemed to love Rowan, and it was really making me doubt that she was involved with her dads dirty work. When the night was coming to end, I found Roawn again. I held a balloon flower up for her. "This is for you." I said sheepishly. I knew it was probably stupid.

I smiled and pretended to smell it. "Oh smells like rubber." I joked. I turned around when I felt someone tugging on my dress. "Ms. Hayes! Tommy ate a peanut butter cup!" She cried. I immediately wanted to panic but I took a deep breath. "Okay where is he?" I asked. I turned to Finn. "Can you grab my purse off the donation table... quickly please." I said then ran to find little Tommy who was seriously allergic to peanuts.
