I reddened. i was only trying to be nice. I got up and shoved my hands in my pockets before walking away, a pit at the bottem of my stomach.

I nodded and stayed where I was. I trusted Candi and although I didn't like Caleb I knew he'd be civil. I wasn't a clingy boyfriend; I would let Candi do what she had to do

i ran a hand through my hair anxiously. "No, you're right. It IS a big deal. We can never be friends." I said hastily. "I just....I can't look at you without feeling sad or mad or given up on or whatever." I said, softer.
