I took a deep breath and sat down on a stone bench overlooking the pastures. Ive only been back for half an half an hour and I was already freaking out. What would everyone think?? I basically just disappeared for a year. Would everyone hate me?? I looked away from the green grass and horses when I heard footsteps coming closer. I looked up from my spot and saw 2 familiar eyes I havent seen for a year.

I walked through the courtyard in black leggings and a red tank top, holding a brownie and a frappe that I was going to take to my dorm from the Sweet Shoppe. I looked a newb on a bench. She looked really familiar. The girl looked up, her eyes connecting with mine. A weird sound in between a gasp and a yell escaped me and I jumped back. "Teagan?"

"Bella?" I jumped up from my spot to hug her. Then I realized that she probably hated me and didn't want to be hugged, so I sat down again. Wow, I am really stupid. "Hi! Sit down! How have you been?" I said in a rush, scooting over so she could sit.

I sat, a little out of it. "Um, I've been good. I guess. Where have you been?" I asked her.

I bit my lip. "Welllll.... My grandma died unexpectedly and since my mom Is dead we got her part of the inheritance. Not that it was a ton, she had like 3 older siblings or something." I said, playing with my ponytail. "So we went back home for the funeral and to get things sorted out." I smiled tentitvley. "What has happened here??"

"I'm sorry." I frowned. "Not a lot. You missed YENT tryouts, but I think you can make them up since you were previously advanced. Um...is Cris with you?"

"Well he's not with me now, obviously." I said as my lame attempt as a joke. When she didn't laugh I continued. "He's around here somewhere. Probably in the barn or his room or something. We were planning to meet for lunch soon."

I nodded. "Oh. How's Stella?" I asked her, a bit nervous at the idea of Cris on campus.

"Pretty good!! She's super happy to be back." I smiled. "What about you? How's riding going? I'm guessing you made yent?"

"Riding is good. Yeah, I did." I smiled. "Have you ridden in the past 10 months?"

"A little bit. I've been focusing more on piano and my music, I think." I said, wrinkling my nose. "But Cris has been riding a ton. I think hEs really improved. Speaking of brothers, how's Jake?" I asked as casually as I could.

I grinned. "He's great. He never really got over you..."

I blushed red. Deciding not to comment, I changed the subject. "So how's your summer been?? Do you gotta boy toy?" I asked eagerly.

Oh, how awkward "Um, yeah." I nodded slowly
