 I walked into a library, hardly noticing the maple stairs and floors that gleamed. I carried my bag up the winding stairs and sat at one of the matching desks on the top floor, where no one ever really sat. I opened my books and started studying. Evaluate the expression if x=8.
2x + (12 x 3) - 4I started scribbling the answer. 2x + (12 x 3) - 4
2 x 8 + (12 x 3) - 4
2 x 8 + (36) - 4
16 + (36) - 4
52 - 4No. That's not right..Wait.[/font] I thought. I shook my head and continued. 2x + (12 x 3) - 4 = 48I tired to continue, but I kept getting lost in thought. Golf. Friends. PGA Tour. Hunger. My lack of friends. This school sucked. I heard someone come up the stairs, and it jarred me out of my thoughts. |
