I brushed a strand of my mohagony locks behind my ear as I stared ou the backseat window beside me. The windows were tinted so outside looking in it was black. "Jeffery? Are we there yet?" I asked my butler. Of course, my parents were 'busy' and couldn't bring me to my first day of Canterwood. Although, I didn't really expect them to want to. "Yes, miss. We are a few miles away." Jeffery replied, looking at me in the rearview window. Good I thought. I peered through the window behind me to catch a glimpse of the big, Chevy truck that was pulling the soft blue trailer behind us. In that trailer contained my favorite horse in the world, Shaq. I had bought him from a fabulous breeder in Washington. "Miss?" Jeffery said, waiting with the door open. I didn't realize that he had parked and was waiting for me to leave. "Thank you." I told him, stepping out of the door. I was wearin tan breeches with a light blue shirt, where in the corner had 'Big Timber Acres', one of the most high-class stables in Cali. I walked to the other truck that pulled our trailer. "Mark?" I asked the groom who drove it. He stepped out of the truck and went to the back, unlocking the trailer. He bolted it, so I needed him to open it. "Thank-you." I told him, setting down the ramp. I put my perfectly polished black paddock boot on the ramp and walked in. Shaq was standing quietly, waiting for me to untie him. I went up to him and kept a hand on his side. I unclipped his trailer tie and grabbed the side of his leather halter that had 'Slam Dunk' engraved in gold on the side. Then I backed him out of the trailer. "Here's your lead, miss." Mark said, handing me the matching leather lead. I clipped it to his halter and rolled up the rest, held it in my hand, and with my other hand I held the chain by the clip. I walked him to the barn. I stopped him and closed my eyes, breathing in the fresh scent of horse and leather. "Amazing." I breathed, patted his neck. Then I walked him to his stall. I unlatched it and put him in. I took off his halter and lead, checked his water and hay, then I went back to the trailer and got his Dressage saddle, Cross-country saddle, and their bridles. I brought them into Canterwood's tack room and set them down. Then I went back and got my show-jumping saddle, matching bridle, and all of my saddle pads. I set them by my other things. Then I went back for his earmuffs, leg wraps, grooming box, and other riding I needed. I brought them into the tack room and put them, of course, with my other things. I walked back to the trailer and gave Mark the OK to leave. I went to Jeffery and started to get my suitcases. "Can you help me?" I turned to ask him but he already was. Between the two of us I got all my things into my room in 10 minutes. "Thank-you Jeffery." I told him, starting to unpack. "No problem, miss." He turned and left.
Once I finished unpacking, I walked back out to the stables. Shaq was there, munching on his hay. I smiled and slipped inside. He lifted his head and nuzzled my pocket, knowing I had treats. I grinned and took out a few, giving them to him. "Ready for a ride?" I asked, rubbing his neck. I grabbed his halter off the hook right outside his stall and put it on him. I led him out to the cross-ties them went to get his stuff. I grabbed the baby blue tack box, his matching saddle pad. Then in my other had I got his dressage saddle and bridle. I brought it back to Shaq and started grooming him with a curry comb. I made small, circular motions with the brush all over his body(Except for the bottom of his legs). Then I got out the hard brush and did quick, brisk strokes. After that, I took the soft brush and did the same. Every bit of loose hair was off of him. Then I got his hoof pick and asked for his hooves, picking out every one. Then I got his mane and tail brush and got all the tangles out(Not that there was any). Finally, I took his face brush and (Of course) brushed his face. Then I took his saddle pad and set it on his back. I got his saddle and put it on top of the pad. Then, I got his bridle and threw the reins over his head. I took him off the cross-ties and took off his halter. I held the bit to his mouth and he took it easily. I set the bridle on his head and started to lead him out, when I nearly bumped into someone else and her horse. "Omygosh! I'm so sorry!" I apologized to them, backing up Shaq a bit.
