I walked silently to the courtyard and sat down on the bench by the fountain. I looked up at the stars then shivered when I realized how cold it was.

"Yes thank you." I said thoughtfully. I kept are hand enlaced with each other and rested my head on his good shoulder, looking back up at the stars. "They always seem to sparkle and smiled down at you." I commented.

"Yea well at least you're good at something. Well, lots of things actually: riding, dancing, gymnastics, being nice," I listed off a few things. "the only thing I'm good at is baseball. And I don't even know if I'll be good at that anymore! What if I can't throw as hard?"

"Thanks." I said, but I had doubts. The surgery could go way wrong, or my play could be affected by taking so much time off or having a new shoulder joint. "How did you break your neck?" I asked.

"Well it was a riding accident." I said. "Three years ago I was working with Romeo. I had been sick the week before and couldn't ride for the week. When I go back Romeo was more then hyper. He's a great horse but he needs to be constantly worked. Anyways, he was really flighty and was kicking out and bucking for no reason. Then as we were jumping a cat ran out and spooked him. He managed to unseat me over the jump and then proceeded to rear up and flip over almost landed on me." I explained. "That all hurt and I knew as soon as I hit the ground I would have a concussion and my back would be severely bruised. As Romeo scrambled to get up I tried to roll out of the way but it was just to late. In all his panic he stepped with all of his weight onto the back of my neck." I said quietly.

"Horses and riding always got me through any tough time so I wasn't going to let one tough time that happened with my horse set me back. It was also because once I was better I realized that I had failed to stay on and failed to keep my horse calm, and I don't do failure. So I was not going to quit feeling like I failed." I said. I rubbed my neck when I thought about it.
